Perky's Organic Groundnut Oil (Mai Gyada)

Composition, benefits, and uses.

One of the more popular staples in the country, peanut is very widely grown and consumed in Nigeria. Known as groundnut, it is a versatile legume that can be utilised in many different ways. It is found as an ingredient in many dishes both in the form of nuts and as cooking oil. Less known but still recognized is the use of groundnut oil in skin care.
Groundnut oil is very popular in the local context and here are a few things you should know about it.

Organoleptic properties of groundnut oil:

The botanical and organoleptic peculiarities are liable to change depending on the production conditions (country, sunshine, organic production, etc.).
Industrial peanut oil is generally extracted hot, using a chemical solvent, then deodorized and bleached. Organic groundnut oil, first cold pressed, is more expensive to produce. We nevertheless recommend opting for this choice.

Thus, groundnut oil can be used when cooking in a pan (including in a wok), especially at high temperature. However, despite its high Omega 9 content, it is not the oil of choice for a balanced diet.
•In order to supplement Omega 9, it is also possible to consume peanuts or even: macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, almonds.

Precautions for use of groundnut oil:

As a precaution, people with allergies to peanuts and nuts should refrain from using this oil, either by mouth or skin . Furthermore, its use is not recommended in children and during pregnancy.

With great stability, groundnut oil can be used for cooking at high temperatures, in particular for frying.
